GSXRs and Ninjas and Spyders, Oh My!

By Madame Margherite

It’s bike show season, and the recent International Motorcycle Show hosted at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City was a hit. The venue hall was packed with Bay Harbor Motors veteran Kawasaki and Can-Am customers and since we are looking forward to a future with Suzuki customers, we were happy to meet all the GXSR & Hayabusa riders that came out this weekend.

As always, the Kawasaki booth was flooded with high performance riders checking out the brand new and improved 2012 Kawasaki ZX-14R. Another motorcycle that raised much attention was the 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650R; a popular bike among those who wish to ride in a less aggressive upright position but still have the weightlessness of a lighter bike as opposed to the 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 1000, which also is an upright motorcycle but is much heavier.

The Can-Am Spyder booth was also a fun section to walk through, especially for those who straddle the fence between two wheels and four wheels. The unique breed of motorcycle with two wheels in the front and one in the back always grabs attention. This year, Can-Am featured the much anticipated 2012 Spyder RTS Limited in Brown and Tan with the matching trailer to pull behind. Naturally the sporty models were out as well. In both Green and Red the 2012 Spyder RSS were hard to walk away from.

And at last, being that we at Bay Harbor Motors have an interest in Suzuki, we paid extra attention to what such customers were checking out. Finding that consumers were particularly fascinated by the 2012 Suzuki GSXR 1000, and of course the 2012 GSXR 600, we are excited about getting our fans on the road on these beauties.

Thanks to everyone who came out. It was a real pleasure seeing all of our customers new and veteran. We are here to answer any and all your questions, and as you know our loyalty to you is as solid as your loyalty to us. We appreciate your business and promise to always go above and beyond to provide you with the highest quality sales and service. We hope to see you in our shop soon.

Happy riding!

Peace,

Can-Am Spyders Climb the Charts in 2012…

By Margherite Cermak

There’s no question that Can-Am Spyders are the most radical machines on the market. The unique design, and optimal power are enough to set these bikes aside but the looks of them sky rocket them to the top of the charts. Last year, Can-Am out did the industry when they introduced the Spyder RTS Limited Edition to consumers in the market. This sport touring version of the more aggressive Can-Am, the Spyder RSS was featured in Pearl White and sold out across the country due to its unique comfort features including a passenger lumbar seat, heated handlebars, and 144 liters of storage to accommodate long trips.

This year Bay Harbor Motors is happy to say that Can-Am has repeated history by presenting the market yet again with gorgeous Spyders, both Sport and Touring models available in either manual or automatic. The colors are signature as well this year; the 2012 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited this year comes in a burnt umber brown color with dark tan seats accented with chrome around the exhaust tip, heat shield, mirrors and the six-spoke front wheels. This bad boy comes fully equipped with the Garmin Zumo 660 GPS with Bluetooth capability, as much storage space as last year, and this time has a travel cover.

The engines on 2012 Can-Am Spyders are just as powerful as always. In both the 2012 Can-Am Spyder RSS and RTS there’s a BRP-Rotax 998cc V-Twin engine that can carry these bikes anywhere you may want to go. As Bay Harbor Motors caters to both the long distance and around-the-town riders they also stand behind BRP’s 2012 Can-Am Spyder RSS. The options for this model are as vast as can be.

One of the most popular features about these versatile machines is that they are highly customizable. For the RSS models that don’t come standard with passenger back rests you may add one, as well as saddle bags for additional storage, grips and pipes for a little extra flair. The 2012 Can-Am Spyder RSS is available in hot colors as well; running with an exotic theme this year BRP Can-Am has made these bikes available in Neutron Green, Can-Am Red, and of course Steel Black Metallic.

These three wheelers dominate the road and never fail to turn heads. The attention these machines get when spotted in the street gets higher every year. BRP has really stepped it up this year yet again and 2012 Can-Am Spyders are bound to make some noise among riders. Bay Harbor Motors can certainly accommodate any purchase, any order and any customization available on these bad boys.

Ride happy with comfort you’d find in a convertible and the freedom of the open road—Bay Harbor Motors and Can-Am offer it all.

Peace,

Staten Island Suzuki Launches 2012 Motorcycle and Scooter Line…

By Madame Margherite

Recently established Staten Island Suzuki, a branch of the pioneering Kawasaki dealership, Bay Harbor Motors, has officially launched the 2012 Suzuki Line up of motorcycles and, for the first time ever, scooters. In the past, Bay Harbor Motors has been limited to bikes, boats, watercrafts and ATVs, but this year scooters are also on the market for the family owned dealership.

Due to popular demand, Staten Island Suzuki didn’t hesitate to carry scooters along with their newly acquired Suzuki product line. The Suzuki Burgman comes in two models, the 650 Exec and the 400 with ABS.

The 2012 Suzuki Burgman 650 Exec sets the styling standard this year with stunning aerodynamic bodywork. Suitable for both the streets and highway, this scooter is comfortable, lightweight and agile featuring a passenger backrest, Anti-lock Break System, a liquid-cooled 638cc 8-valve twin-cylinder engine, and plenty of storage space. The 2012 Suzuki Burgman 400 ABS has a slightly smaller engine, a 400cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, fuel-injected Suzuki engine but comes with the same comfort and performance.

In the bike line up, it’s a given that the Hayabusa is in high demand; after all this beast comes standard with a whapping 1340cc in-line 4 cylinder fuel injected, liquid cooled engine with 16-valves and Twin Swirl Combustion Chambers prompting phenomenal power, but the GSX-R1000 is another hot bike to look at this year. For 2012 Suzuki GSX-R1000s have improved throttle response, increased power & acceleration at mid-range engine speeds and better fuel economy. Also this machine has reduced its weight by over four pounds, an important factor for performance riders, by refining the chassis, suspension, and breaking systems. Available in signature blue, and naturally, black.

For the cruisers out there, Staten Island Suzuki puts on display the 2012 Suzuki Boulevard. With engine sizes ranging from 650cc to 1783cc there’s a Boulevard for everyone. Featured at the top of the line, the 2012 Suzuki Boulevard M109R Limited Edition comes in a stunning new Metallic Triton Blue and Glass Splash White color scheme and houses a giant 1783cc, 8-valve, 54 degree, liquid-cooled fuel injected V-Twin engine.

The smallest of the Suzuki cruisers is the 2012 Suzuki Boulevard S40; housing a 652cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled four-stroke engine this is still a big bike. It’s a sexy one too, available in Metallic Fox Orange, or Pearl Mirage White and Metallic Veil Silver, all of which are available now at Staten Island Kawasaki. So regardless of which Boulevard you decide to roll on, your destination is just a smooth purchase away.

Kawasaki Bites Back with Big Bikes in 2012…

By Madame Margherite

We at Staten Island Kawasaki know that big bikes have always been a big deal in the motorcycle industry, but this year Ninjas have really come back better than ever trumping all models which have come before. Redesigned and reengineered Kawasaki has presented the market with substantial improvements made to their line of Super Sport bikes; most notably in the Ninja ZX-14R, the Ninja 1000 (commonly confused with the Ninja ZX-10R) and of course the z1000.

“Witness the Phenomenon” says manufacturer when debuting the 2012 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R, a steep and dramatic upgrade from the 2011 1400cc monster of a machine. This year’s version features a sleeker, more aerodynamic body that distributes heat throughout the bike more evenly forcing it away from the rider making high performance racing more comfortable.

The ZX-14R keeps its signature side fairing fin design, this year with accentuating the lines for an even more dramatic look, but has reshaped the seat offering riders more thigh support—a valuable feature for competitive riding.

Power wise, this bike houses the same Inline-Four engine as last year’s model with displacement increased through a 4mm stroke addition giving this Superbike a whopping 1441cc to jump off of. The combustion chambers are reshaped along with the intake ports maximizing performance, and the camshafts feature revised profiles with a reinforced cam chain, allowing the engine to withstand higher rpm levels. Also, the pistons have gained strength and shed weight making the 2012 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R the most competitive machine in the market.

Another Super Sport bike seducing us this year is the 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 1000. “Inspired by the track, bred for the street” this beauty took home last year’s place as “Motorcycle of the Year” and may do the same in 2012. While the Ninja 1000 was only born a year ago it has rolled out blazing. With optional ABS, Kawasaki signature Inline-Four engine, reduced vibration, and a stylish 4-into-2 catalyzer-equipped exhaust system that reduces emissions and gives the Ninja 1000 a pleasing growl without making too much noise.

The 2012 Ninja 1000 maintains its stunningly sexy look and upright aggressive riding position but has utilized effective engineering decreasing weight and increasing performance. Using the latest most advanced technology in lightweight production the Ninja 1000's chassis rolls on lightweight six-spoke Super sport rims, the single-shock system features a damper mounted nearly horizontally above the swing-arm for optimal stability, mass centralization and heat resistance. Additionally, this Superbike uses race-spec brakes - 300mm petal-type rotors up front squeezed by ultra-rigid radially mounted calipers fed hydraulic pressure by an equally race-spec radial pump master cylinder.

In English… Ninja 1000s look good, ride smooth, and stop on a dime. There’s no way to ignore this bike.  At Staten Island Kawasaki, New Yorkers rave about the power this bike puts out.

Right alongside the Ninja 1000 is its naked sibling the Z1000. The 2012 Kawasaki Z1000 has added some aesthetic details this year just allowing it to stand next to the other Supersports on the block. Available in either Candy Burnt Orange or Metallic Spark Black, this bike is featuring a low-mount front cowl that slopes back, accentuates the Z1000s stylishly sleek design and line-beam headlights integrated into the angled cowl gives her a futuristic look. The shapely fuel tank, flared on both sides, killing two birds with one stone, is easy to grip with your knees and trim at the back providing a snug fit all while being aesthetically pleasing.

Comfort has been met as well; the seat on this 2012 Kawasaki Z1000 is low and narrow at the front for reachable ground contact and flows aggressively to the rear contributing to this machines athletic shape.

Naturally, a motorcycle is only as big as its engine; powered from the 1043cc twin cam16-valve Inline-four it’s undeniable that this bike has power and can perform. The liquid-cooled, high-compression motor features a long stroke of 56mm for instant power, is fuel injected and has a six-speed transmission. This motorcycle was designed for low profile, sporty riding on the real-world streets.

Regardless of which Ninja fits you best, there’s no mistake that this year Kawasaki puts up a fight both on the track and in the streets and at Staten Island Kawasaki we make it possible for you to “Let the good times roll”.

Peace,
--Marg
